Consulting, Coaching and Mentoring Support
Welcome! We are so glad you are here. As we walk this life, sometimes we find ourselves in need of rest, wisdom, encouragement, or a listening ear. This is not always easy to find in our busy and individualized culture. It is even more difficult to find when we choose a more narrow road. Some of the narrow roads we find ourselves on are following Christ, home educating our children, and even more narrow... homeschooling using Charlotte Mason's methods. If you are walking a narrow road and find yourself in need of a place to chat and work things out, we want to be available to lovingly coach you on your way. Sometimes we need someone to pray with us, other times we just need to talk about something out loud to work it out, or we might need a cheerleader on that narrow road. Even other times we want someone to teach and train us in ways we haven't yet traveled. We hope we can do that for you. We would like to be a friend or mentor along the way.
Consultants
Heidi Buschbach - Woodbury, MN (East Side)
Heidi Buschbach has been homeschooling her 4 children using Mason's methods for 7 years now. She has a passion for Biblical discipleship and building relationships in community and so she set out to start a Charlotte Mason homeschool co-op 6 years ago. She has specific experience starting and running their CM co-op community and also a Book Discussion/Support Group, so if you are interested in pursuing this sort of thing, she would be happy to offer suggestions and advice.
The subjects that have been covered in their co-op are Hymn, Folksong, Poetry, Art Study, Composer Study, Shakespeare, Handicraft and topical Nature Study. Mason said that we should spread the feast for our children so that they can have relationships with many things. These things feed children's souls as food feeds the body. Therefore, these subjects are vital to a Mason education, but they are sometimes hard to fit in to a busy homeschooling day. Heidi would love to share with you how that can be done in your own home or through a co-op.
She has also done workshops on planning your Charlotte Mason curriculum. This would include how to lay out a schedule, which subjects to teach, and how to set up your books and lessons into yearly, weekly and daily routines. She also has materials to help you consider different curriculum choices and resources that will best fit your family. Heidi is familiar with Ambleside Online, Simply Charlotte Mason, Living Books Curriculum and Higher Up and Further In, as well as planning your own curriculum, so she can help you navigate those resources. If you have struggled with knowing how to move forward in planning your school lessons, please reach out!
Heidi has a degree in Music and has directed 12+ plays/musicals/choirs, so theater, music and fine arts are her thing! She also studied Science in college and loves Nature Study and Living Science lessons. She has studied Mason's original volumes and attended more than ten Charlotte Mason conferences over the past 7 years, including one in Ambleside, England where Mason lived and taught at her teacher's college. It was on that trip that she became humbly aware that she has so much more to learn on this journey of using Mason's methods. So come along and learn with her! She would love to share what she has gained so far!

Amy Gault - Apple Valley, MN (South)
Amy Gault has been homeschooling her 6 children for 11 years, and started implementing Mason's methods about 7 years ago. She has a passion for coming alongside others and encouraging them on their journey. Biblical discipleship and building relationships in community are important to her, which caused her to seek out ways to live that out in a Charlotte Mason specific way, starting with attending monthly nature walks hosted by Heidi Buschbach and later joining the co-op that Heidi runs. Amy has taught Handicraft, Art Study, Plutarch, and Hymn in the co-op, with a particular fondness for Plutarch. She is excited to teach it again for the current co-op term as well as branching out into Poetry and Nature Study. If you need help figuring out how to implement any of these subjects or other of the subjects that are called “the riches” or “the feast” in your homeschool or co-op, she can help!
Amy has experience with homeschooling children with reading and math difficulties and can offer encouragement and ideas to help make it work for your family. She also has homeschooled during a family tragedy, and can give you some tips on how to manage life and homeschool in the midst of deep grieving. Additionally, she has 3 students who are doing the same year in the Ambleside Online program at their different level and can offer help on how to accomplish that. Amy’s Charlotte Mason experience has come largely from Ambleside Online, but she has pulled ideas on scheduling and organization from other Charlotte Mason resources including Simply Charlotte Mason, the Alveary, and Sabbath Mood Homeschooling.
If you need help figuring out how to move your homeschool toward a Charlotte Mason style, Amy can help. Amy’s degree is in History with an Educational Psychology minor. In college, she learned about using living books and engaging resources to learn history, which is probably one reason she loves to teach Plutarch! She is in the process of studying Charlotte Mason’s original volumes and improving her Mother Culture, which is the education that Miss Mason recommended for mothers to do for themselves. She would love to come alongside others who want to do the same!
